Zaborin 坐忘林 Access
Zaborin is approximately two hours’ drive from New Chitose Airport (Sapporo, Hokkaido).
Part of the extended Niseko Resort (including Hirafu and Annupuri), Zaborin is closest to the Hanazono ski area which includes a large ski school, rentals, ticket sales and the base lifts that connect to the rest of the Niseko ski areas. Hanazono is approximately 7 minutes by car, and we are able to provide complimentary shuttle service to and from the Hanazono Ski Centre during the ski season.
The neighbouring town is Kutchan (sister city to Switzerland’s St. Moritz since 1964).
Private transfers are also available from the airport – please let us know if you’d like assistance in booking.
There are two main driving routes, both of which are approximately two hours’ from New Chitose Airport to Zaborin. (Note that the city of Sapporo is about an hour’s drive north of the airport.) The more direct and popular route is to drive directly west from the airport via 453 around Lake Shikotsu. The other way is to drive up past Sapporo and around the north coast; via the coastal town of Otaru. This has toll roads but is popular for a stopover in Otaru which is known for its fresh seafood, sake and glassworks.
Please let us know if you would like more detailed driving instructions; some roads are closed during the winter season.
Car rentals are available from Toyota Rentals which has branches at the Airport, and within Niseko. (English online booking is available)
On site parking, with assisted valet if preferred, is available.
Zaborin is situated in the northern island of Japan. The airport there is New Chitose Airport, often referred to as ‘Sapporo Airport’ (the city centre is an hour north of the airport). Zaborin is 2 hours drive due west of the airport.
Many international airlines fly directly to Sapporo, New Chitose Airport.
There are frequent flights every half hour from Tokyo’s Haneda Airport to New Chitose Airport which is the easiest and closest to Tokyo’s city centre.
Connections from Narita are also available.
We would be delighted to help arrange a car pickup, minibus or coach for your airport transfers.
