Although most well known for its extraordinary skiing and snowboarding conditions, visitors in the Asian region repeatedly return for the summer months which offer great weather, stunning vistas and many activities.
With winter snowfalls regularly exceeding 14 metres, Zaborin is located in one of the snowiest regions in the world. The ski resorts are open from late November until early May each year with peak considered to be from mid-December to mid-March.
Due to its unusual microclimate, spring skiing still offers plenty of snow and many advanced skiers continue to enjoy its famous “champagne powder” as late as early April. Simultaneously, the non-skiing activities begin to emerge and golf, cycling and fishing become available from April/May.
With its northern location, and set amidst mountains and lakes, this part of Hokkaido offers wonderful cooler temperatures that can be a relief from the heat of the summer. Zaborin’s summer activities are many and varied with hiking, cycling, rafting, golf, and fishing amongst the most popular. Already a favourite with locals in the region, if you have only experienced Niseko in the winter, we urge you to try the warmer months.
Although onsens are appreciated and enjoyed all year round, they are ideal during the autumn months as the days become cooler and the leaves change colour. It is the perfect season for hiking, onsens and appreciating nature.
